Five items every girl needs for summer!

IT may not always feel like it right now, but trust us summer is definitely on its way!

Whether or not you'll be choosing to stay at home or holiday abroad this year, it's good to get organised and get the summer clothing essentials sorted for your child as soon as possible.

When it comes to girls, there is no end of choice. So to make it easy here are five must have items that we think every mini fashionista worth her salt needs to have in her wardrobe this season.

1. The dress

In our eyes, you just can't go wrong with a pretty summer dress. And trust us when it comes to dresses, there's one for everyone. From the prettiest florals to the coolest graphic prints, dresses are easy to wear, comfortable and look fantastic. Our favourite? Well it's hard to choose, but it has to be this pretty lobster print smock dress. Perfect for summer picnics don't you think?

2. The vest

When the sun comes out, a vest is the only top your daughter will need. Cooler than a T-shirt, when the temperature drops, just layer it up with a cardigan, shrug or pop it over a long sleeved top. One Direction fans will go mad for this one.

3. A pair of shorts

Yes we love skirts but shorts are just much more practical! Especially when you're off to the beach or playing outside. These pretty peach shorts tick the pastel trend box for this season, but if you want to play it safe, you can never go wrong with a simple denim pair. 

4. A sun hat

We know some kids don't like them but trust us, every child needs to wear a sunhat to protect themselves from the sun's hot rays. Even if you're in the UK. (Don't be fooled by those pesky clouds!)

That sunshine can cause serious damage so always, always pop a hat on your child's head when Mr Sunshine comes out to play.

5. A swimming costume

For paddling, swimming or just splashing about in, every girl needs a swimsuit she will love! Playing in water is what summer is all about after all! 

From spots to Disney princesses, stripes to our favourite flamingo print (see above), when it comes to a suitable cossie, just make sure that it fits well, is comfortable to wear and looks fabulous.

Other essentials?

Sun cream, sunglasses and ice cream of course! Slap on the lotion, pop on their shades and let them get stuck into a '99.
